Blasting
Abrasive blasting
uses high pressure air to propel small particles at
a surface to clean and add a profile to it. The
type of particles and the pressure of the area
determine how hard they hit the surface. The harder
they hit the surface the faster they can clean the
surface and the deeper the profile. Profile refers
the roughness of the surface. If you are painting
an item most paints will need a rough surface to
help them stick to the item, but too rough of a
surface can make it difficult to impossible to make
the paint smooth or glossy. Abrasive blasting can
also be used to engrave stone, wood and glass,
frost glass, add a textured surface to metals and
concrete, and remove weak surface concrete from
precast concrete.

Aluminum
Oxide
Aluminum oxide is a hard material (second hardest after diamonds), allowing it to be used on harder metals. It also has a consistent grit size which allows us to produce a smoother surface than some other blasting materials. It is also a sharp material which allows for quicker blasting which also adds to the production of a smooth surface.
Coal Slag
Coal Slag (sometime referred to as Black Beauty, Black Magic, or Black Magnum) is great when working with steel. It is fast cutting and economical. It can be used to remove rust, paint, and scale from metal surfaces.

Bead Blasting
Bead blasting is a general term for the use of one of several types of materials. Bead blasting can be steel, glass, or plastic grit. Steel grit is fast cutting and leaves a smooth finish and used on hard metals such as steel. Glass grit works well in general cleaning and leaves a satin or matte finish. Plastic grit can be used for removing paint on delicate surfaces such as fiberglass without causing damages to the substrate.
Organic Blasting
Organic blasting can be done with walnut shells or corn cob. Both of these are delicate enough to not rough up or damage the substrate and allow for a safe organic breakdown of materials. This is important when areas need to be food-safe and free of any contaminants that may result from blasting other media. Corn cob is also safe on glass allowing you to clean the glass directly or cuts prep time for areas with multiple surfaces.
Sand
Sandblasting is what most people think of when they think of abrasive blasting. It is the most common type and in most cases the cheapest. It must be performed in open spaces or confined in blasting cabinets as it is very dusty. Sandblasting usually leaves a rough surfaces that is excellent for preparation of steel, concrete, stone, glass, and other hard surfaces.
Soda-Blasting
Soda-Blasting (blasting Baking Soda) is a great means of removing unwanted products from delicate surfaces. It can be used to remove rust or graffiti to more sensitive applications like restoring automobiles or cleaning food processing facilities and equipment. Soda blasting offers many advantage such as its non-toxic properties, its easy clean-up since it is water soluble) and its delicate nature which cuts down prep time saving you time.
